Abstract
Section titled āAbstractāA diamond-shaped substrate-integrated waveguide antenna excited with coaxial feed is proposed in this paper. This is operated in TE <inf xmlns:mml=āhttp://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathMLā xmlns:xlink=āhttp://www.w3.org/1999/xlinkā>101</inf> mode at 5.37 GHz frequency and in TE <inf xmlns:mml=āhttp://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathMLā xmlns:xlink=āhttp://www.w3.org/1999/xlinkā>202</inf> mode at 8.30 GHz frequency. In the design, four sides of the diamond-shaped structure are densely arrayed with metalized vias and the fifth side contains no vias. Gain of the antenna is 5.95 dBi and 9.14 dBi for the TE <inf xmlns:mml=āhttp://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathMLā xmlns:xlink=āhttp://www.w3.org/1999/xlinkā>101</inf> and TE <inf xmlns:mml=āhttp://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathMLā xmlns:xlink=āhttp://www.w3.org/1999/xlinkā>202</inf> modes respectively. Later, a rectangular box-shaped dielectric resonator is added to the radiating side of the antenna. The dielectric resonator connected antenna design resonates at TE <inf xmlns:mml=āhttp://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathMLā xmlns:xlink=āhttp://www.w3.org/1999/xlinkā>202</inf> mode with 8 GHz frequency and enhances the gain from 9.14 dBi to 13.23 dBi. Ansys HFSS v15.0 software is used for all simulation investigations.
